Hung-Yuan (Peter) Chi is a Distinguished Professor at the Institute of Biochemical Sciences at National Taiwan University (NTU) and a Joint Appointment Research Fellow of the Institute of Biological Chemistry at Academia Sinica. He obtained his Doctoral degree under the supervision of Professor Patrick Sung at Yale University in 2007 and carried out his postdoctoral research with Professor Elaine Fuchs at Rockefeller University in 2010.

Peter Chi joined the faculty in the Institute of Biochemical Science at NTU in 2010. His research group focuses on deciphering the functional and mechanistic role of homologous recombination in the mainteinance of genome integrity. In 2020, he became the Director of the Institute of Biochemical Science at NTU, and he also serves as the Associate Dean of the College of Life Science at NTU.
